10 things to FilipiKNOW About Logan “Logistx” Edra, FilAM B-Girl Making Olympic History

Written By Niko Del Rey

Oh man, we are in an age where the true sports of the Philippines are making their way to the Olympic stage… Singing and Dancing! And although Karaoke might be one of the most practiced competitions in living rooms around the world, that is not the one sport I’m referring to. I’m actually talking about the high flying, head spinning, back flipping sport, of break dancing. And of course as a people who take dancing very seriously *mimick jabawockee moves*, it is a proud day to see a Filipina American represent our country as one of the best dancers in the world. From an early age of owning the stage, Edra has always made a name for herself in the break dance community and now she is attempting to bring home gold for Filams across the country. Let’s get to FilipiKNOW her a little better with 10 things you didn’t know about Logan Edra.

1. Born May 8, 2003 in Chula Vista, California, 21 year old, Logan “Logistix” Edra, is one of 16 Female Breakdancers (BGirls) to represent USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the debut Olympic event, Breakdancing.

2. Logan is a second generation Filipina-American. Her grandparents were born in the Philippines and her parents were born in the United States.

3. Logan says her dad gave her the B-Girl name “Logistx” because she needed a plan for everything. Logan was only 7 years old when she first started breaking.

4. Logan grew up learning breakdancing from Culture Shock San Diego Training Academy up and has spent most of her life in Southern California until recently moving to Florida with her mom where she trains and instructs at her home studio, BreakMIA Studio.

5. At an early age, Logan  was pulled from public school to be homeschooled, giving her more time to prioritize dancing and training. In an interview with Vogue, she credits her strict work ethic to her Filipino American upbringing, “I think my discipline definitely comes from my family,” she shares, “The work ethic was always my edge when I was younger—working harder than everyone else in the room.”

6. Logan says that being a BGirl is both embodying an athlete and an artist  at the same time. She is required to physically train and push her body as any other athlete while simultaneously needing to find new flow and fluidity within the music she is dancing to. Truly showcasing her artistry as a dancer and athlete.

7. Logan’s dedication to her athleticism is also reflected in her diet. She is very conscious about what fuels her body and was at one time a vegan for seven years but has since then added salmon and more supplements to her diet.

8. At the age of 18, Logistix claimed the b-girl championship title at the 2021 Red Bull BC One World Final in Poland, making history as the youngest woman to ever take home the title.

9. In addition to her Red Bull BC One Title, she won the 2018 Silverback Open Championships in Philadelphia  and the 2020 Junior Breaking 7ToSmoke Radikal Forze Jam in Singapore.

10. Not only is Logan mentoring as an instructor, Logistx also uses her platform to spread awareness about mental health in tandem to being able to donate to non-profit and outreach centers.
