6 Sinigang Seasoning Hacks You Need to Try
Written By Niko Del Rey
If you are a fan of either chicken wings, Hot Cheetos, Popcorn, Guacamole, White Chocolate, or Tequila, then this post is for you, everyone else can keep scrolling. Being a professional snacker myself, I am always on the lookout for new ways to invent the wheel aka new ways to “spice” things up, if you will. And who would’ve thought, that one of the easiest ways I could switch up some of my favorite snacks would be sprinkling a little Sinigang mix on top?! Well the secret ingredient isn’t so secret anymore, so let’s get into 6 Sinigang Seasoning hacks you need to try
1. Sinigang Fried Chicken Wings (@hungryhugh)
Starting our list off with a bang, we have Sinigang Fried Chicken Wings. If you’re a fan of Lemon Pepper, this might just be your new favorite collab. The zest of the garlic powder, salt, and pepper, but mixed in with Sinigang mix?! Saran! Best of all, this isn’t a lengthy recipe, not much left to do but bread it and throw in the air fryer. With over 1.7m views, Instagram content creator @hungryhugh has all the details of this 20 min viral recipe in the link below.
2. Sinigang Popcorn (@dkababayan)
Your favorite theme park snack just got even better! @dkababayan connects the Filipino community through Disney magic and shows you one of his favorite ways to do that with a classic Disney treat. Just grab a box of popcorn from any Disney cart, rip open your Sinigang seasoning, mix in, and enjoy. From Disney Magic to Disney Masarap in seconds!
3. Sinigang Guacamole (@chefblackbeard)
Summer is almost here and the season of the cookout is upon us. If you’re really trying to impress your family with a little bite to your chips and dip, maybe you can try @chefblackbeard ‘s Sinigang Guacamole! With a step by step guide on his IG, there’s no way you can mess this up. With bold spices and flavors like garlic, chili, and fish sauce, your dish is sure to standout to anyone who is familiar with Filipino cuisine.
4. Sinigang Shot Chaser (JayR & Mica)
In an interview w/ @allthings.filipino, Filipino power couple the Philippine King of R&B Jay R and the triple threat actress, singer, model, Mica Javier gave the inside scoop of the new way to chase your tequila and it’s not salt… it’s Sinigang mix! Mica claims the only way to do tequila the “right way” is a little Sinigang mix with lemon. I’m more concerned on how to convince the bouncer to let me in with a pack of Filipino seasoning but I’m definitely giving this a try next outing.
5. Sinigang Hot Cheetos (@sammiebernabe)
Although she is #5 on this list @sammiebernabe might be the queen of Sinigang seasoning hacks with her series of combinations she has all over her IG. But if you’re a big muncher like me, this collab of sour and spicy might be my favorite one on this list. The secret to making this recipe really POP? Squeeze in a little calamansi juice in the bag with the sinigang mix to give it that authentic Filipino flavor profile. *chefs kiss*
6. White Chocolate w/ Sinigang (@ninongry)
Okay so this isn’t a hack but it definitely piqued my interest enough to make the list. Ninong Ry reviews the CMV Txokolat x Knorr Sinigang Bar and the sweet surprise to his taste buds makes me scramble to find this asap. He describes the sweetness of the white chocolate and the sourness of the Sinigang as a complementary pairing that is pleasantly delicious. White chocolate on the outside and a thin layer of Knorr on the inside, a few testers claim it resembles a lemon bar due to the sourness in the middle. I think I’ve heard all I’ve needed and am open to trying this myself if anyone is willing to mail me one! In the words of @kydyuzhini “I need it on me desk now!”
