THIS IS MY HUSTLE: KRISTINE DE LOS SANTOS

Multi-hyphenate co-founder of One Down Media, Kristine de los Santos is a 26-year-old self-proclaimed Human Swiss Army Knife with she/her pronouns, which is her way of saying that she’s versatile and comes in clutch when it matters. Born and raised in Southern California where she often spent weekends and spare time with her extended family between the IE and LA, she knows what it means to say, “It takes a village.”

Her passion for the community was born at the annual Los Angeles Justice for Filipino American Veterans demonstration in 2013, leading her to take on various leadership roles on the UCLA campus within Samahang Pilipino and the UCLA Student Government, followed by the SoCal Pilipino American Student Alliance. Since graduating, Kristine has explored working in mental health, creative audio production, municipal government, and is now beginning a new role in non-profit work as the new Business Counselor for Search to Involve Pilipino Americans, also known as SIPA. At the same time, she taken part in co-creating and supporting the mission of One Down to redefine what it means to be Filipino. She has discovered that the common thread and her primary mission between all these experiences is to create spaces and produce events for our community while seeking methods to enhance empowerment, education, and representation. She is also a fledgling artist who enjoys writing and singing, though very much in private, and she’s slowly owning what it means to embrace her creative identity so she can truly share herself with the world and find strength in vulnerability.
