Idris Vicuña, known professionally as Eyedress, is a Filipino singer-songwriter, rapper, and record producer will be on the line up both weekends this upcoming Coachella.
Pre-pandemic, we partnered up with Eyedress to give a talk at UHFSA (UH Filipino Student Association) who hosted their first TFCUx HOUSTON that aimed to inspire college students and young professionals to help them realize their full potential. Check out Eyedress as he shares more about his journey, failures, and why he thinks its always worth following your dreams.
Here’s 10 things to know about Eyedress:
He was born in Makati but came to the US because his Dad got a job working for 20th Century Fox.
He grew up in Phoenix and San Clemente.
His parents are what he describes as “normal” filipino parents who “doubt the arts”.
He got signed to his first label at 22 years old.
Eyedress is the solo project of Idris Vicuña, lead guitarist of lo-fi, garage pop outfit, Bee Eyes.
In 2005, Vicuña moved back to Manila where he formed Bee Eyes with friends Julius Valledor and Diego Abad.
Bee Eyes is a moniker for B.I.’s, and what his parents used to call his friends back in the Philippines, “Bad Influences”.
Early in 2020 Eyedress dropped the 'Jealous' EP. The title track has proved to be his most popular to date. Valentines Day single 'Let's Skip To The Wedding’.
Eyedress' breakout track Jealous from his 2020 album Let's Skip To The Wedding has been certified gold in the USA, Poland, Australia, Ireland & Canada.
Last Month, Eyedress and fellow Filipino American artist zzzahara debuted their joint album as The Simps with single, “Tesla”.
