Our Fave 8 Music Videos By FilAm Artists that are so good, you’ll have them on repeat
Filipinos have proven time and time again that their talent behind the mic can also translate in front of the camera. These 8 artists have taken storytelling to another level, adding incredible visuals to their already beautiful songs in the form of music videos. In this blog, we'll be highlighting our 8 favorite music videos by Filipino-American artists that you absolutely need to watch right now. Whether you're a fan of R&B, hip-hop, or pop, there's something for everyone on this list.
1. Us by Ruby Ibarra
Since its release, Ruby Ibarra has had incredible success with her song “Us”, which is now one of her most popular hits. The music video, which was directed by Ruby herself, depicts powerful pinays as they step into their power and embrace the spirit of togetherness in a mix of modern clothes and traditional pieces like the Filipiniana. In the video, you also get glimpses of cultural dances, one of which was the Tinikling, a traditional Philippine folk dance. It’s safe to say that beyond the empowerment that comes from the lyrics, this song is an anthem for women empowerment for Filipinas not just in the United States, but across the globe.

Known to many for its fascinating sights and sounds, Ouida’s music video for her song “Coffee (Ride With You)” is nothing short of spectacular. The visual masterpiece consists of Ouida in a number of beautiful outfits alongside other women as she sings the song in a montage of clips that features fun colors and eye-catching effects. Culture was present several times in the music video, as Ouida was spotted sporting a modern take on the traditional Terno. In another layout, she and the featured women were holding pamaypays, traditional hand-held fans, which are typically woven in the Philippines. Representation is everything and we are so here for it!
