Dolly de Leon Is Headed to the Austrian Alps for Hulu’s Season 2 of ‘Nine Perfect Strangers’ and We’re Already Obsessed

May 23, 2025

⚠️ Spoiler-ish Alert: We’re two episodes into Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2, so if you haven’t started streaming yet and want to go in completely blind, maybe go hit play and come back later. We’re not spilling everything, but there are some light reveals. You’ve been warned, fam.

If you thought Dolly de Leon was done taking over Hollywood, jokes on you. The Filipina powerhouse is stepping into her next big international role, this time in Season 2 of Nine Perfect Strangers, and let’s just say, the glow-up is for real, for real.

After completely stealing the show in Triangle of Sadness as Abigail (yes, the same performance that got her a history-making Golden Globe nomination), Dolly is now joining an all-star cast in one of Hulu’s most anticipated shows. Nicole Kidman, Henry Golding, Murray Bartlett, Annie Murphy, Christine Baranski… and now, Dolly. The Dolly. Our Dolly. And nof to spoil it, but It’s giving ensemble excellence.

This season shifts from the California wellness retreat vibes of Season 1 to a snow-covered chalet in the Austrian Alps, because apparently, spiritual awakenings also come with après-ski hotty toddy’s and frostbite. Nicole Kidman’s charmingly unhinged ‘Masha’ is back with her wild wellness methods, and Dolly’s new character, Sister Agnes, is a former nun who shows up with more poise and mystery than anyone else in the room. Two episodes in and it’s clear Dolly’s already the quiet force that’s grounding all the madness - and well, that’s saying quite a lot considering the group includes a toxic couple, a spiraling influencer, and a literal death in the opening scenes.

We don’t know everything about Agnes yet, but between her stillness, her side-eyes, and the way she delivers one-liners like holy mic drops, it’s clear Dolly’s bringing that same slow-burn energy that made her unforgettable in Triangle of Sadness.

Dolly’s rise hasn’t just been exciting — it’s been seismic. One minute she’s grinding it out in Philippine indie films and theater, the next she’s sitting front row at fashion weeks and starring in international prestige projects. Her trajectory feels like a win for anyone who’s ever been told it’s too late to dream big. And while we hate to use the term "breakout" for someone who's been doing the work for decades, it’s clear the world is finally catching up to what Filipino audiences have known all along: Dolly de Leon is that girl.

The new season dropped May 21, and if the first two episodes are any clue, we’re in for a slow-unraveling trip that’s equal parts psychological mindbending and emotional reckoning (wrecking, too., perhaps?). Alpine mystery, psychedelic healing, and a whole lot of emotional baggage are coming, and Dolly de Leon is right in the middle of it. Stream it. Stan it. We already are.
